Welcome

Welcome to the website of the firm of A. Williams & Co. (Solicitors).

A. Williams & Co. has extensive experience in obtaining and defending freezing injunctions — court orders that prevent a respondent from dissipating assets pending the resolution of litigation. Also known as Mareva injunctions after the landmark Court of Appeal decision, these powerful interim remedies are a cornerstone of our litigation practice and are available on an urgent basis where there is a real risk that assets may be moved or hidden.

Where assets are held abroad, we advise and act in relation to offshore freezing orders, coordinating with our network of international law firms to enforce orders across multiple jurisdictions. We have particular expertise in Bermuda freezing injunctions and other offshore financial centre proceedings, as well as worldwide freezing injunctions (WFOs) that bind a respondent in respect of assets wherever located globally.

We also act for landlords and tenants in possession proceedings. Where a possession order has been made, we advise tenants on applications to suspend a possession order and on urgent applications to achieve eviction suspension, preventing bailiffs from carrying out an eviction whilst the matter is reviewed by the court. Where enforcement has already been authorised, we advise on warrant suspension applications to set aside or suspend a warrant of possession at short notice.
